The long awaited Decentralisation & Localism Bill was introduced last month to parliament by Eric Pickles, the Communities and Local Government Secretary, who described the bill as heralding “A ground breaking shift in power to councils and communities overturning decades of central government control and starting a new era of people power.” The new bill has six actions of decentralisation which include such descriptions as ‘to empower communities to do things their way’. Industry Recognition Of Masefields’ Outstanding Sustainable Design |
Friday, 04 February 2011 |
Conceived by Masefields, the £3 million Parkside development at Yaxley near Peterborough has reached the 2010 Finals of the LABC Peterborough Design Awards in the Best Multiple Dwelling category. The 27-dwelling development provides a mixture of house types and tenures. Situated adjacent to agricultural land, one of the reasons we were shortlisted for the award was the complexity of the planning and the considerable negotiation required with planning and landscape officers. Our careful attention to architectural detailing and respecting the views over the surrounding land were additional reasons. This latest recognition adds to a growing number of industry accolades for our work in sustainable design. |
