Windsor Street

Location: Birmingham

Sector: Industrial Warehousing

Following a 15year relationship, between client and architect, Masefields were appointed to design and project manage the development of a two-storey high security warehouse with underground car parking.

The site was landlocked on three sides presenting the design team with a number of technical issues to resolve, including the demolition of a five storey lift shaft, the excavation of underground car parking in close proximity to existing buildings, and the structural implications of designing all floors for high racking and paper storage.

The development was completed within budget and despite the discovery of an unrecorded air raid shelter during the demolitions was completed successfully.

Kings Court

Location: Winchester

Sector: Offices

Constructed in 1893, Kings Court was originally built to house the City library and Winchester School of Art.The façade was built in a Gothic revival style to compliment the adjacent Guildhall (1871).

The building was gutted by fire in 1969, repaired in the late 1980’s and ultimately became home to the NHS Information Service in 2002.

Masefields have worked closely with the NHS for a number of years and were appointed to design and project manage the internal remodelling of the three storey listed building, to bring the offices up to current standards whilst maintaining the integrity and character of the original building.
